The UK revised its national oil spill contingency plan in 2006. In accordance with the plan, regional Environmental Groups were set up across the UK. Each regional area has a list of experts and expert groups that serve on the regional Environmental Group. The Environmental Group advises the incident command on environmental issues, including wildlife aspects of the response. |

| Shetland (Scotland, UK) |
The Shetland oiled wildlife plan was written by the Shetland Oil Terminal Environmental Advisory Group (SOTEAG) through its Wildlife Response Co-ordinating Committee (WRCC). In 1990, the plan became an integral part of both the Sullom Voe Harbour oil spill response plan and the contingency plan for the whole of Shetland. |

Norway has experienced a significant number of oil spill incidents that affected (or threatened) oiled wildlife, which have lead to the start of a national oiled wildlife response planning process. |

| Ireland |
Ireland is in the process of updating its oil spill response plans led by the Irish Coast Guard. Each of the 20 coastal counties is charged with the task to develop a local authority oil/HNS contingency plan, according to a predefined structure. This structure requires a section called "Procedure for dealing with contaminated birds". |

France has explicit instructions in place for wildlife response plans. They are well integrated into the overall oil spill response plan as Annex 5 of the French Polmar Land oil spill plan, for which the local administrations are responsible. |
