On 31 July 2009, the bulk carrier Full City ran aground on Sastein Island, near Langesund, Norway. The ship was carrying approximately 1000 tons of bunker crude oil and 100 tons of marine diesel fuel, most of which spilled in the incident.
The Norwegian Oiled Wildlife response network (NOW) initiated a response. Sea Alarm was then called in to assist. Oil spill response personnel from Germany, Belgium and the UK were brought in to support the response.
